Countryside 999: The Cornwall Air Ambulance helps a woman who might have fractured her pelvis after falling off her bike on a remote rural road. The hospital in Penzance treats a man with a brain tumour whose condition has changed while on holiday with his family, and a Welsh policeman clashes with a van driver.

All the main events of the novel are here, and portrayed very well; despite the low budget this production also boasts some effective costumes and uses color well. In comparison to other versions, this stands up well but perhaps the most recent television version is stronger, and the Emma Thompson film more sumptuous.$
